A frustrating summer window for Newcastle United was handed a timely boost of late as the club reportedly close in on the loan signing of Chelsea’s Brazilian youngster, Kenedy.
Indeed, Lee Ryder reports that a deal to bring the 21-year-old to St. James’ Park on loan was in the offing, merely a few hours since Rafa Benitez publically revealed he’s unhappy with the manner in which this window has gone.
#nufc hope to tie up the deal for Kenedy in due course. Benitez met the player in London yesterday.

Former Fluminense man Kenedy is able to operate up and down the left flank and did impress for the Blues when handed a starting berth under Guus Hiddink towards the end of the 2015/16 campaign. He’s set to become the club’s second loan signing of the summer, following the arrival of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mikel Merino.
A signing somewhat out of the blue, it’ll be interesting to see if Benitez opts to deploy the Brazilian as an attacking left full-back or more of an orthodox winger.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how Newcastle United fans reacted on Twitter.
Wasn't really expecting us to sign Kenedy tbh. Can't see him bringing much other than cover for the wingers and left back #NUFC

Totally underwhelmed by breaking stories about Kenedy. #NUFC need proven EPL recruits who can score goals and add value to team. Pathetic
