Newcastle in the race for Carrillo

|

Newcastle have been offered Andre Carrillo.

According to a report on TalkSPORT Benfica are happy to listen to offers for the winger who struggled to make an impact after switching from Sporting Lisbon last summer.

While Carrillo hasn’t made any impact at the Stadium of Light the 26 year old has picked up 36 full caps for Peru which should ensure that there are no work permit issues.

Crystal Palace, Stoke, Huddersfield and Watford have all been approached about Carrillo’s availability but the need to bring in new faces is probably most obvious at Newcastle.

Although signing a striker and a goalkeeper are the current priorities for Rafa Benitez the Newcastle boss is also on the look out for another winger to compete with Jakob Murphy.

With the budget at St James’ Park appearing not to extend beyond £10m Carrillo would certainly fit into that price range as Benitez tries to strengthen his squad with 10 days left until the Premier League opener against Spurs.
