Links between Newcastle United and Stoke City striker Joselu have seemingly come out of nowhere, though reports emanating out of Spain suggest the player himself is keen on a move up to Tyneside.

Indeed, according to Marca, the Spaniard is ‘seduced’ by the idea of joining countryman Rafa Benitez at St. James’ Park and has reportedly asked to leave the Potteries.

The 27-year-old marksman was brought to England two summers ago, though spent last season out on loan with Deportivo de La Coruña, after previously playing for their rivals Celta Vigo.

A bid for the forward is understood to have been rejected – with Stoke thought to have found Newcastle’s offer a ‘derisory’ one – though Joselu is said to be keen on making a move.

He made just 10 starts during his season in England, though did manage to notch four goals during the 2015/16 campaign and has been in relatively good form during the Potters’ pre-season outings.

Perhaps not the most inspiring signing, he would add another option to Benitez’s front line, one that looks relatively toothless heading into the Premier League campaign, even considering Dwight Gayle’s heroics last term.
