Fenerbahce have joined the race for Lucas Perez.

According to a report in The Express the agent of the Arsenal striker has been in talks for a number of months about taking Perez to Turkey.

Perez joined Arsenal a year ago from Deportivo la Coruna but was restricted to mainly making cup appearances last season and sometimes dropped to fourth choice at The Emirates.

Despite the expected loss of Alexis Sanchez there has been no suggestion that the 28-year-old will be given a chanced under Arsene Wenger.

With Newcastle looking to bring in a striker Perez at £13.4m seemed to fit the jigsaw but news of talks with Fenerbahce are bound to alarm Rafa Benitez.

Tammy Abraham was the first choice striker that Benitez was looking for but the Chelsea striker opted to join Swansea on loan leaving Newcastle scrambling to add to their striking options with the big kick off less than a fortnight away.
