Benitez turns to Correa

|

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Angel Correa.

According to a report in the Daily Star the Atletico Madrid striker could be the man that Rafa Benitez is looking for to lead the line.

Correa only managed four goals last season for Atletico who are prepared to let him move on despite having a transfer registration ban in place.

The 22-year-old moved from San Lorenzo of Argentina in 2015 but has been unable to recapture the form that earned him the transfer.

Bringing in a new striker is one of Rafa Benitez’s transfer priorities with the clock ticking down towards the first Premier League match of the season against Spurs.

With Daryl Murphy sold to Nottingham Forest last week for £2m Benitez has less striking options that he had in the Championship with Correa likely to come in at less than £10m which appears to be the ceiling on Newcastle transfers.
