Within yet another report from the Daily Mirror suggesting Rafa Benitez is unhappy with life at Newcastle United, there actually emerges a relatively interesting transfer tidbit.

Indeed, the Spaniard is once again claimed to be frustrated by the lack of backing in the transfer market he’s getting from Mike Ashley, though these kind of reports have come up fairly frequently over the course of the summer break.

Still, within this report, they claim Andros Townsend is available for a transfer. While the England international is said to be one of the sources of frustration right now, as top brass on Tyneside reportedly refuse to chase him, it’s interesting that he’s claimed to be up for sale.

Now, it’s important to take these reports with a pinch of salt. Yes, it’s been a frustrating summer for the Magpies, though it seems to be a sewing motif throughout the Premier League, aside from the biggest spenders.

So, whether or not Townsend really is up for sale remains to be seen. Though, if he is, it seems not going after the former Toon star again is the second time a potential return for him has caused friction at St. James’ Park.

He was touted with a potential return to the North East back in January, though a deal couldn’t be done and a move is thought to have collapsed at the last minute.

Since, Newcastle have spent relatively big money on Jacob Murphy, who operates in a similar role, as well as bringing in winger Christian Atsu on a permanent deal.
