According to the Daily Telegraph, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is targeting FIVE new signings before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

It’s proved a difficult few months for the Magpies since their promotion to the Championship, with doubts about the Spaniard’s long-term future once again rearing their ugly heads on Tyneside.

However, the report suggests the 57-year-old is keen on bringing more bodies in to get his squad in order for the Premier League campaign. A centre-back, left-back, central midfielder, goalkeeper and striker are all thought to be of interest at St. James’ Park between now and August 31st.

Michal Pazdan of Legia Warsaw is said to have emerged as a target in the hunt for a new centre-back, though that area is rather well stocked at the moment. Still, the towering Polish international is believed to be available for around £3m, a snip in today’s transfer market.

If Benitez can get more deals over the line, Newcastle may enjoy their return to the Premier League, rather than endure it.
