Newcastle appear close to getting rid of Emmanuel Rivière.

According to a report in The Chronicle the striker is lose to completing a deal with Turkish side Osmanlispor.

Riviere spent last season on loan at Osansuna but failed to make any impression with no goals coming from eight starts and seven appearances as a substitute.

Newcastle paid Monaco £5m for the striker in 2014 but at no stage did he look like making a contribution with just one goal coming from a total of 26 appearances.

Rafa Benitez quickly wrote off the Frenchman and wasn’t prepared to try and reintegrate Riviere into his first team squad despite selling Daryl Murphy to Nottingham Forest and failing to bring in any new strikers.

With a year left on his Newcastle contract no fee will be involved in the move to Osmanlispor with Rafa Benitez still looking to move on another five or six players from the club’s wage bill.
