Norwich Sporting Director Stuart Webber has emphasised to fans that Jacob Murphy will only leave on their terms.

Speculation that the England u-21 winger was on his way to Newcastle peaked on Thursday but there is still no sign of a deal going through.

Webber recently moved to Norwich and was speaking out at a fans forum according to a report in The Chronicle.

Murphy signed a new four year contract last November which gives the Championship side a large degree of control over what happens next.

Unlike other clubs relegated from the Premier League Norwich are in decent financial health and under no real pressure to sell the 22-year-old.

With Newcastle believed to have offered £10m and Norwich looking for £16m the stalemate looks set to continue.

Newcastle have been linked with a number of other wingers but there’s little doubt that Murphy is Rafa Benitez’s first choice to fill that position.
