Newcastle have rejected a £5m bid for Karl Darlow.

According to a report in The Sun Middlesbrough have had the offer rejected with Newcastle looking for more money for the keeper.

Despite an impressive season helping Newcastle to promotion Darlow is available for transfer with Rafa Benitez targetting other stoppers.

Joe Hart, Pepe Reina and Willy Caballero have all been linked with a move to St James’ Park as the Spaniard ruthlessly breaks up last season’s promotion winning side.

Darlow managed to establish himself as first pick keeper but looks like moving on with Dutch internationalist Tim Krupp becoming the back up.

Reading have also expressed an interest in Darlow but it’s likely to take a bid in the region of £8m to snap up the keeper with Newcastle hoping that a bidding war develops.

Benitez has still to make real progress towards bringing in a new keeper but the signs are ominous for Darlow.
