Newcastle are considering a move for Stefan O’Connor.
According to a report in The Chronicle the former Arsenal defender is interesting Newcastle’s scouting department..
O’Connor’s career has seriously gone off track over the last two seasons due to loan deals with York City and MVV Maastricht turning sour.
Prior to that he had played for England at u-17 level and made his Arsenal debut against Galatasaray in the Champions League.
Following the end of his Maastricht deal he was freed by Arsenal with Newcastle keen to get a look at the 20 year old in pre season training.
With his pedigree he could prove to be a bargain signing but it remains to be seen what impact two seasons on the wilderness has had on his morale.
Newcastle are looking to strengthen all areas of their squad, if they can bring in the former Arsenal man it would be a great boost, if it’s the York misfit no offer will b e made.
