Tammy Abraham has explained why he chose to go to Swansea on loan rather than Newcastle United.

Mick Quinn was the most critical pundit over the decision with both clubs making similar offers to Chelsea to take the player on loan.

Rafa Benitez is anxious to bring in striking options with Abraham’s 26 goals for Bristol City last season suggesting that he is ready for a crack at Premier League defenders.

Among the reasons given by the England u-21 striker for selecting Swansea was that ‘they try to play nice football’ while former Bristol City team mate Alfie Mawson said good things about the Welsh club.

It was thought that Benitez’s Chelsea connections could help push the striker towards Newcastle but it appears that Paul Clement has got similar contacts.

Chelsea aren’t interested in a permanent deal for the striker and are keen to see if he can transfer his Bristol City form up into the Premier League.
