Newcastle have been linked with a move for Alphonse Areola.
According to a report on Sport Witness the Paris St Germain keeper is the latest shot stopper to interest Rafa Benitez.
Areola had a run of 15 matches in the PSG side last season but won’t start the new season in the plans of manager Unai Emery.
The 24 year old is highly rated and is believed to be interested in a move that will give him a chance of regular first team football.
Newcastle have been linked with a number of high profile keepers but have yet to make any real breakthrough in that position.
Joe Hart, Pepe Reina and Willy Caballero have all been discussed with Reina believed to be Benitez’s first choice to fill what has become a problem position.
With a year left on his Napoli contract Reina is in discussions about a contract extension with both parties well aware of Newcastle’s interest in the keeper.
