Newcastle have emerged as contenders to sign Tom Huddlestone.

According to a report in The Sun the midfielder has a clause in his contract allowing him to move for £2m if Hull are relegated.

Huddlestone has the sort of top flight experience that Rafa Benitez is looking for in Newcastle’s return to the Premier League.

Although he is available for a knock down fee the 30 year old can negotiate his own terms and won’t be short of clubs willing to make an offer for his services.

West Brom have been linked with a move for Huddlestone who joined Hull from Spurs in 2013 for a fee of £5m.

So far Benitez has had little luck in the transfer market but with a fixed fee on his contract negotiations for the midfielder should be straight forward with Newcastle able to offer a realistic chance of regular first team football in the Premier League.
