Middlesbrough have entered the race to sign Sheyi Ojo on loan from Liverpool.

According to a report in The Chronicle Garry Monk has been in touch with Jurgen Klopp to register his interest in the young winger.

Newcastle made an enquiry about Ojo in January after he returned to Anfield from a disappointing spell on loan to Wolves.

Klopp intends having a close look at the 20-year-old in pre season training before deciding on what would be the best move for his career.

Ideally that would be playing regular first team football in the Premier League but whether Newcastle can guarantee that is open to question.

With Middlesbrough likely to be among the Championship pace setters Ojo should get more of a chance to shine although it would be at a lower level of football.

Newcastle are looking at a number of wingers with Jacob Murphy of Norwich an £8m target.
