Karl Darlow is a transfer target for Reading.
According to a report in The Sun the Newcastle keeper is wanted by Jaap Stam as he attempts to build another promotion push.
Darlow finished last season as Newcastle’s first choice keeper but bringing in a new stopper has been a clear priority by Rafa Benitez.
Joe Hart, Pepe Reina and Willy Caballero have all been linked with a move to Newcastle opening the door for Darlow’s departure despite starting 36 games last season.
The 26-year-old played an important role in gaining promotion but is likely to be tempted by an offer from Reading when it’s clear that his future at Newcastle will be as a back up keeper at best.
A fee of £5m has been mentioned for the keeper which could be used in a bid to sign Reina from Napoli with the former Liverpool keeper believed to be Benitez’s first choice as goalkeeper.
