Craig Shakespeare is hoping to convince Newcastle target Demarai Gray to stay at Leicester City.
According to a report on Sky Sports News the Leicester boss is looking to talk the 21-year-old into staying at the King Power Stadium despite limited playing time last season.
Newcastle enquired about Gray in January with Rafa Benitez keeping tabs on his situation at Leicester through a change of manager which did little to alter Gray’s situation.
Benitez is looking at a number of wingers and would love to get the chance to work with the 21-year-old.
Last season 21 of his 30 Premier League appearances came from the substitutes bench with the former Birmingham man looking for the chance to get regular football.
Shakespeare wants Gray to be part of his new look Leicester side for the season ahead but could have his work cut out with the player well aware of interest in him from Newcastle and others.
