Newcastle are preparing an offer for Tom Lawrence.
According to a report in The Chronicle the Leicester winger is in the plans of Rafa Beitez as he prepares for pre-season training a week today.
Lawrence spent last season on loan at Ipswich Town and is unlikely to figure in the future plans of Craig Shakespeare.
Rafa Benitez has been looking to bring in a winger since the failed attempt in January to bring Andros Townsend back from Crystal Palace.
Lawrence was linked with Newcastle at that time but after scoring 11 goals for a struggling Ipswich side Benitez is ready to give the Welshman his chance to play in the Premier League.
A number of other clubs have shown interest in Lawrence, in light of recent transfer difficulties Newcastle will be keen to tie up business to dampen down speculation that Benitez is unhappy with the slow pace of transfer dealings.
