Newcastle face some uncertainty over the fee of they push ahead to sign Charlie Taylor.

According to a report in The Chronicle there is no cut and dried formula for deciding a fee for an out of contract player who has come through a club academy.

Despite being out of contract Taylor returned to the Leeds side in March and was a regular in Garry Monk’s side although he had indicated that he wouldn’t be renewing his contract.

If Newcastle decide to sign the 23-year-old they will have to go to a tribunal if a fee can’t be agreed with Leeds.

Rather than go on a factor relating to wages, appearances and how long he has been with the club an old fashioned value is placed on the player which is binding on both clubs.

Newcastle were linked with Taylor earlier in the season but will face competition fromn West Brom and others although the unknown fee will play a part in the terms that can be offered to the player.
