Sunderland manager David Moyes has said Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford will only be sold at a “premium” price in the summer. The 23 year old could depart the Stadium of Light and has been linked with controversial move to the Magpies in recent weeks.

Everton are reportedly the most keen with a £17million bid reportedly being lined up but Moyes is quoted by the Chester-le-Street Advertiser as saying it would take a massive offer to allow the keeper to leave the Black Cats.

“Good players and English players have a premium. Wherever Jordan goes it would have to be a really big price. It would not be cheap if anybody wants Jordan Pickford.”

Despite Sunderland’s relegation from the Premier League, Pickford’s performances have stood out, and there seems to be a long list of admirers among established top flight clubs.

Whether a keeper is a top priority for Magpies boss Rafa Benitez is questionable. Once Tim Krul and Freddie Woodman return from loan spells in the summer, the club will have five first team goalkeepers, and it seems likely that areas such as up front, on the wing, in central midfielder and defence will be the primary focus of Newcastle’s spending over the next few months.
