Achraf Lazaar looks like becoming one of the first players to quit Newcastle this summer.

According to a report in The Chronicle the left-back has spoken to the club about moving on after failing to make an impact following his £3m summer move from Palermo.

Lazaar has made just four substitute appearances in The Championship and knows that things aren’t going to get any better next season in the Premier League.

Newcastle paid £3m to sign the left-back and handed out a five year contract which is likely to prove a massive stumbling block in his departure.

A loan deal to Italy or Spain seems the most likely option allowing the defender to put himself in the shop window and get some first team action after what has effectively been a lost season.

There has been no fall out between the player and Rafa Benitez but all parties seem to be in agreement that it’s time to move on.
