Newcastle and Burnley are interested in signing Stoke forward Jonathan Walters, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The 33 year old is considering his future at the Potters after having his first team opportunities restricted in recent months. Stoke boss Mark Hughes is believed to be considering a revamp of his squad in the summer with the futures of some of the older players at the club under serious threat.

Walters has been at the Bet365 stadium since 2010, and has a contract at the club until 2018. His lack of game time in recent months has led to him asking for talks with the club’s hierarchy to gain some clarity on his future.

The striker has featured 22 times this season, and started 13 games. A knee injury however kept him out of action at the start of the year, and he has now been sidelined again with a similar injury which means he will miss this weekend’s match against West Ham.
