Newcastle have joined the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek, according to teamtalk.com.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that Blues manager Antonio Conte is willing to allow the 21 year old to leave on loan next summer, but the Magpies will have to battle with Premier League side Stoke City, and fellow Championship promotion contenders Brighton.

Loftus-Cheek has featured in just eight matches for Chelsea this season, and has failed to start a single Premier League game. He did however impress playing for the England Under 21s on Monday.

The midfielder scored twice in a 4-0 win over Denmark, and is considered by many as one of the brightest young talents in the country. It is unlikely he will be leaving Chelsea on a permanent basis in the immediate future though.

The Mail says Loftus-Cheek is currently earning north of £50,000 a week, despite only playing 29 times for Chelsea, and he won’t leave if he has to take a pay cut.
