It seems Rafa Benitez WILL stay on as Newcastle United’s manager. For Now.
His long-term future has been cast into doubt as top brass at St. James’ Park refused to shell out and bring anyone in to supplement his squad currently battling to win promotion back to the Premier League. What happens in the summer is down to Mike Ashley, though the Spaniard was defiant during his pre-match press conference ahead of the visit of Derby tomorrow.
With so much unrest amongst the club’s support right now as we all await to see what happens, only Mike Ashley will be able to tell you exactly how this all plays out. Still, Benitez handed everyone involved with the black and white cause a monumental boost today when he vowed not to quit.
