Yoan Gouffran
After enjoying a 13-match unbeaten earlier on this season, the Frenchman’s performances dipped somewhat and he became increasingly isolated on the left flank, looking more and more like the player who’d failed to convince over the past couple of seasons.
However, he scored another volley against the Blues and showed he can indeed operate as a lone forward and, while Daryl Murphy will surely start after being rested, will desperately need to show such a degree of attacking intent to get into supporting areas.
As useful as the Irishman can be, he obviously lacks mobility, so Gouffran’s role in playing off him will be a crucial one.
