Having been linked with a move to Newcastle United of late, Guardian journalist Ed Aarons has provided an interesting update on the situation of reported target Nicolas Pepe.

The 21-year-old Angers forward has been touted as a potential addition this month in an attempt to introduce some more attacking flair and creativity to Rafa Benitez’s promotion push on Tyneside, though there is also said to be interest from elsewhere in England.

Premier League giants Liverpool have been mooted as a potential destination for the Ivorian, though Aarons has revealed top tier strugglers Hull City are ready to ramp up their attempts to bring him to these shores. He does further state that there is interest from St. James’ Park, though the Tigers have recently had their coffers boosted by the sale of Robert Snodgrass to West Ham United.

Still, the idea of a relegation fight may not be as appealing as the notion of rising up to the Premier League in black and white.
