Though he only moved to Tyneside on loan this summer, Newcastle United’s loan star Christian Atsu is reportedly the subject of talks between parent club Chelsea and Turkish outfit Medipol Başakşehir, according to Fanatik

The Ghanian is currently on African Cup of Nations duty with his nation and penned a season-long loan deal with the Magpies only back in August. However, Rafa Benitez hasn’t always used the 25-year-old as a regular starter.

Yoan Gouffran’s form on the left of a 4-2-3-1 formation have kept the former FC Porto ace at bay and he’s appeared in less than 700 appearances of Championship action this term, with talks between the Blues and their Turkish counterparts reportedly at an advanced stage.

It’s thought the Toon Army do have the option to buy the winger at the end of their agreement so will be involved in the talks, though the Super Lig side are understood to be hopeful of a deal.

Should he leave Newcastle early, his time in black and white would be the latest in a long line of failed loan moves, including ill-fated spells at the likes of Everton, Bournemouth and Malaga.
