Having struggled with injuries over the past few seasons, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez has given a positive update on young Rolando Aarons. 

The 20-year-old is one of the most highly rated youngsters on Tyneside though is seemingly doing his very best not to fulfill the potential he’s shown so fleetingly over the years.

Still, he proved impressive during the last Premier League game of the season last term as the Magpies put the traveling Tottenham Hotspur to the sword in a 5-1 thumping.

After being deployed from the star during the first few games of this season, however, the England U20 international broke a bone in his foot during the EFL Cup win over Cheltenham Town.

Since, the former Bristol City trainee has been arrested after a nightclub brawl, though Benitez has revealed he’s edging ever closer to a return to training.

With quotes from his pre-match press conference (sourced the Chronicle), the Spaniard announced he was getting closer.

“Rolando Aarons is getting closer and Daryl Murphy is much better”, said the 56-year-old.
