2016 has been one of the most unpredictable years in recent memory, for the whole world in a much wider sense, though life at Newcastle United has been a rollercoaster in it.

As crazy as it has been to watch a huge amount of players arrive (and depart) St. James’ Park, as well the installation of a certain Rafa Benitez in charge, one thing failed to surprise the Toon Army.

Rolando Aarons suffered yet more injury problems, the worst of which being an ACL ailment picked up last week in training that will keep the 21-year-old winger out of action for the best part of a year.

Though there’s so much strength in depth currently plying their trade under Benitez, the England U20 international’s prolonged absence is a huge blow to both he and the Magpies as a whole.

Now, the former Bristol City trainee has taken to Twitter to provide fans with an update, revealing his surgery went without a hitch as he begins the long road to recovery.
