The burgeoning career of Rolando Aarons has taken another huge blow today as it was confirmed by the club on their official website that the 21-year-old has suffered another long-term injury.
Having been one of few talents to emerge through the Magpies’ youth ranks over the past few seasons, much had been expected of the England Youth international as he develops on Tyneside.
Still, some of the initial promise he showed so fleetingly has largely been blighted by injuries and he suffered a broken foot earlier this season, after starting the first game of the season against Fulham.
Now, the ex-Bristol City trainee could well have been ruled out for the rest of the campaign with an ACL injury, casting further doubt on his long-term future for the Toon Army.
Such news has come on his birthday of all days, with the club confirming the injury was picked up in a training session, with surgery expected ‘in due course’.
