Newccastle right back DeAndre Yedlin has hailed Magpies boss Rafa Benitez as an “unbelievable” manager, and has also revealed that he is enjoying playing in the second tier of English football.

Yedlin is currently away on international duty with the United States as they prepare for a historic first match in Cuba since 1947, but he was quoted by the Shields Gazette as saying:

“Especially as a younger player, this league is great as there is so many games. It’s a great move for me to come here, and working under Rafa has been unbelievable.”

Yedlin has already impressed Newcastle fans during his first six appearances for the Magpies, scoring his first goal against Derby County in a 2-0 victory, as well as providing two assists. He was only rested for the 1-0 win against Rotherham United at the weekend according to Rafa Benitez because of a couple of ankle niggles. Vurnon Anita replaced him in the side for the match and it looks likely the pair will be competing for a place in the starting eleven under Rafa for the rest of the season.
