Preston North End manager Simon Grayson believes Newcastle have the quality at their disposal to trouble any Premier League side at St James’ Park.

Grayson’s side were on the wrong end of a humbling 6-0 defeat to the Magpies last night and he believes that the mistakes they made during the match were always going to be punished by the level of players in the Newcastle team. He is quoted by the Chronicle as saying.

“Premier League teams could have come here and lost to Newcastle tonight, that’s the level of the opposition that we were up against but you can’t make the basic mistakes like we’ve done.”

“They didn’t have to do anything difficult to win the game so we have to put that right for the next few games and I’m sure the game at the weekend will be slightly different.”

Grayson won’t have much time to put things right as they face the Magpies once again at Deepdale in the league on Saturday. It is expected that Rafa Benitez’s team will come up against a much sterner test at the weekend. As well as not being hampered by a sending off, they will have home advantage where they have already won four times this season.

Newcastle though have a better away than home record this season, and have dropped just five points in seven away league matches so far this campaign.
