Newcastle attacking midfielder Siem De Jong’s agent Louis Laros has denied that any talks between his client and PSV Eindhoven have taken place regarding a loan move to the Dutch club.

It has been speculated that De Jong could return to the Netherlands to join up with his brother Luuk at the Eredivisie champions but Laros says the 27 year old is currently focusing on recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in preseason. He doesn’t however rule out a move if Newcastle are prepared to let him leave on loan this season. He told Algemeen Dagblad:

“Let me preface that there are no talks between PSV and us. I get the idea though, because his brother plays in Eindhoven. Siem is focusing on his recovery and will take probably another two or three weeks. We rule nothing out, nor in the Netherlands. It obviously depends on what the plans of Newcastle United [are] and whether they are open to a loan period.”

De Jong joined the Magpies from Ajax in 2014 but has had a succession of injuries that have hampered his spell on Tyneside. With Rafa Benitez looking to cut his squad size before the end of transfer window, it is uncertain whether the Dutchman is a player the Spaniard would like to keep or whether he would be permitted to leave on loan and return home.
