Roma are interested in signing Daryl Janmaat, according to Italian newspaper Il Tempo. The Italian club are looking for a new full back before the start of the Serie A season.
Manager Luciano Spalletti’s first option would be former Liverpool player Javier Manquillo who will be allowed to leave Atletico Madrid on loan after the Spanish side signed Croatian international full back Sime Vrsaljko as back up to first team regular Juan Fran.
Newcastle full back Janmaat is believed to be an alternative to Manquillo and good relations between the two clubs could help the deal go through, reports Il Tempo, but the Magpies €10million (£8.5million) asking price could prove to be a stumbling block.
The Dutchman has started both of Newcastle’s first two league matches this season but speculation over the 27 year old’s future at the club has increased since Rafa Benitez signed experienced right back Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer.
