Hamburg have ruled themselves out of the running for signing Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle. It was reported in France last month that the Bundesliga club were in the running for the French international’s signature but his performances in the European Championships for France have priced them out of the deal.

Hamburg director Dietmar Beiersdorfer confirmed that his club were talking with Sissoko’s representatives before the Euros but Newcastle only wanted to talk after the tournament. The 52 year old said to BILD that Sissoko’s is no longer interested in moving to Germany. He is quoted as saying:

“They were interested.”

BILD believes that before the tournament, Newcastle were wanting a fee in the region of €15m – €18m (£12m-£15m) but now reports suggest that the Magpies want at least £35million for the player and the player’s agents no longer see Hamburg the right standard of club for him with a number of Premier League clubs now interested in bringing in the French midfielder.
