Newcastle United star Georginio Wijnaldum has been speaking about his potential to leave the club should the Magpies be relegated, with suggestion that he would seek a transfer rather than play in The Championship.

The North East club face a real battle to stay in the top flight, with Rafa Benitez’s men finding themselves six points adrift of safety going into the culmination of the season and you’d be wise not to use your Betfred promotion code or Onlinecasino Bonus Code on them staying up.

A host of players are expected to leave St James’ Park this summer should the club be demoted, with Wijnaldum one of those to be in most demand.

The Netherlands international has been a rare bright spark for Newcastle this season and is the team’s top goalscorer with nine strikes to date.

Wijnaldum has been speaking out about the potential of leaving the Magpies, with talk of a release clause in his current deal.

“My role is indeed still a bit unclear. But I am no different in this situation,” he told Dutch publication Metro Nieuws, translated to English by The Express.

“Do I have a clause that I can leave if relegated? I do not give information about what is in my contract.

“I do not think about it until the end of the season and focus on the upcoming matches.

“But the club is working hard to put everything right and I am confident that we will be okay.”

Wijnaldum was one of a host of new faces to arrive at the club last summer and can be counted among the team’s few players to have had a successful campaign.
