Jefferson MonteroNewcastle United and Crystal Palace have been offered Ecuadorian winger Jefferson Montero according to the Daily Star Sunday.

However, it is the Eagles who lead the chase for the 23-year-old who is currently playing his domestic football in Mexico.

Jefferson Montero has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs, with Cardiff City previously thought to have been in pole position for the £3 million rated player.

Montero has played 27 times for Ecuador, scoring on six occasions, and used to ply his trade in La Liga for Villarreal before moving to Morelia last summer.

He has scored one of the greatest hat-tricks ever for Morelia this season, scoring from an incredibly acute angle, netting a delightful chip and then blasting one home…

Goooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll. It was a shame that Morelia still lost 4-3!

He looks like a very handy player and it is no surprise that Newcastle, Palace and Cardiff, in addition to Everton, Hull and Swansea, are all keeping tabs on the South American starlet.
