Newcastle midfielder Yohan CabayeYohan Cabaye is undoubtedly the Newcastle United player to watch at Euro 2012. While fellow Frenchman Hatem Ben Arfa and Holland goalkeeper Tim Krul are likely to find themselves starting on the bench, Cabaye is a pivotal part of Laurent Blanc’s squad. France’s number six just seems to be getting better and better, and he’ll be hoping that his brand new football boots are as good as they look!

In France’s final Euro 2012 warm up game against Estonia, a match that they won 4-0, Cabaye was exerting his influence throughout the first half. He ended up having shot after shot from the edge of the box, clipping the post with one particular screamer. He also provided much of the play for Franck Ribery, Samir Nasri and Karim Benzema ahead of him, while playing the ball out wide right to Mathieu Debuchy with regularity as well – hopefully a pass he’ll be making for Newcastle next season!

I’ve got a feeling that France will do well at Euro 2012 (they’re my tip to win if they can keep it fairly tight at the back) and that Yohan Cabaye will have an absolutely storming tournament. While that will draw even more interest to him from teams like Manchester United, it can only be a good thing as his price-tag will continue to significantly increase and if Newcastle were to sell, the return on their 5 million Euros investment will be substantial.

The fact that France are in Group D of Euro 2012 alongside Roy Hodgson’s England is also of great interest. We’ll see first-hand on Monday whether he can run the game against the Three Lions, a match that Newcastle manager Alan Pardew his looking forward to. Pardew told the Evening Chronicle: “We know the threat he [Cabaye] carries, and he’ll be more than a match for anyone in the tournament. Yohan playing makes the game all the more interesting.”

Yohan Cabaye doesn’t only go into Euro 2012 in great form, but also with new boots! Earlier today Cabaye posted a picture of his new football boots on his Twitter account and they look very French…
