Demba Ba slates The Sun

Demba Ba vs Manchester CityI think it would be fair to say that you can’t trust everything that you read in the paper, as if every football rumour that they printed turned out to be true, some players would be on the move every week. However, you’d like to think that when an interview is conducted and direct quotes are taken from a footballer, that what is printed is what they actually said. Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has allegedly indicated that’s not always the case!

Today Paul Smith wrote an apparent exclusive in the Sun describing how Senegalese duo Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse promised that they’d strike fear into Premier League defences this season. While that’s something that they’ve undoubtedly done, Ba has stated on Twitter that he didn’t actually talk to Paul Smith. So who was Paul talking to if it wasn’t big Demba?

This is what Ba Tweeted this morning prior to the Manchester City match at St James’ Park: “Hello paul smith, from the sun! Before writing on the paper please make sure thats me talking to you mate.” This is all rather embarrassing for Paul and the Sun if it does in fact turn out that he wasn’t talking to Demba after all. I’m of course none the wiser, but I can’t see any reason for Ba to lie about talking to the Sun.

I just hope that doesn’t mean that Ba wants to leave, as in the article it was quoted that Ba was happy on Tyneside. This is what Demba said, or in fact didn’t say as it turns out: “Nobody has said they are not counting on being without me next season. The rumours about me leaving have no basis. I have never said I want to leave. I love the Newcastle fans. Since the day I arrived they have shown me nothing but support, so why would I walk away from that?”

So if Ba didn’t say that, does that mean he would walk away from Newcastle? I sure hope not, but the Sun and Paul Smith in particular have been left with egg on their face and this proves that you can’t believe everything you read in the newspaper!

Don’t worry Demba most people who buy the Sun can’t read.

What has to be taken into consideration is that for years the people that have reported for this rag have consistently mis reported and sensationalised stories . They are in the business to sell the rubbish that they print. Unfortunately the people that buy this rubbish and believe it have enabled them to continue to get away with publishing absolute garbage and untruths for years. One of these red tops has been found out and rightly closed down , time is right for this to happen NOW to this tabloid. If you do buy this publication , STOP now . Put it out of business

“So if Ba didn’t say that, does that mean he would walk away from Newcastle?”

    Are you serious?
Where does the logic for that come from?

    You missed one.

He also didn’t say that he’s not a Serial Killer. So does that mean that he is?

Oh hang on. He also didn’t say that he’s not a small yellow crustacean from the planet Faarg!

It was funny when Monty Python did it, but I somehow get the impression you weren’t playing for laughs.
