Caen winger Romain HamoumaNewcastle United and Everton are being linked with 25-year-old French midfielder Romain Hamouma in the People.

Both Newcastle and Everton have had good seasons. Whatever happens in the last three matches of the season for the Magpies, Newcastle will register a top six finish, while Everton look set to finish ahead of their bitter rivals Liverpool in seventh.

It’s good to see British managers Alan Pardew and David Moyes doing well at Newcastle and Everton respectively, and while neither boss will have a huge budget in the summer, there will be money to spend for both.

Caen midfielder Romain Hamouma is one player being watched by Everton, with Moyes being fed back positive reports by his scouting team, while Newcastle’s Graham Carr is all over the French market.

25-year-old Hamouma is a right winger, but as seems to be the modern way, can also play on the left. Rated at around £4 million, Hamouma has contributed two goals and three assists in 28 matches for Caen this season, who are still not safe from relegation from Ligue 1.

Newcastle currently operate Hatem Ben Arfa from the right hand side, but given that Gabriel Obertan has failed to impress since his move in the summer, competition is not that fierce and only really provided by Ryan Taylor.

As for Everton, a few different players have operated from the right of midfield this season, and Hamouma would provide more of an attacking threat than captain Phil Neville or youngster Seamus Coleman.

The diminutive winger has missed the last couple of weeks with a knee injury, but midfielder Romain Hamouma must have done something earlier in the season to attract the interest of Newcastle and Everton.

Perhaps it was his form last season that caught the eye…

Watched the video and saw a tricky dribbler with pace but no end product. Didn’t see one of his crosses lead to a goal a la Ben Arfa vs Stoke. Looks like a French Aaron Lennon to me

Further to this, today a Caen source said: “We’re open to talks but at the right price for a quality player.”
