After a good start to the month, overall February was a slightly disappointing month for Newcastle United as Alan Pardew’s men picked up seven points from four games.

It started well on February 1st as Newcastle rode their luck to beat Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park as Gabriel Obertan opened his account for the Magpies.

This was followed by a dream debut for January transfer window signing Papiss Cisse as he scored the winner in Newcastle’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at St James’ Park.

Newcastle were then brought crashing back down to Earth at White Hart Lane as they were thumped 5-0 by Tottenham Hotspur, but the Toon Army were still a credit to the team.

After a week’s break, Newcastle were lightning fast out of the blocks and raced into a 2-0 lead against Wolves, but a lackadaisical second-half meant they had to be content with a draw.

What will March hold for Newcastle? A month where the Magpies don’t play on Saturday and is kicked off with the 146th Tyne-Wear derby against Sunderland.
