One of France’s most sort-after strikers, Moussa Sow, has begun a transfer rumour whirlwind by stating he does not know where his future lies after next season.

Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham all showed interest in the Senegal international during the summer, but Lille managed to hold on to one of their most valuable players and now the Magpies and coare being forced to play the slow game to get their man.

Sow was the top scorer in France last year with 25 goals and Lille are looking to extend his contract past its current 2013 expiry date.

But it seems negotiations have come to a standstill as the 25-year-old admits he does not know if he will remain at the club.

He told talkSPORT: “I honestly can not tell if I am going to stay. As things stand I am the type of player who wants to talk on the pitch. Now in my head I do not know what will happen at the end of the season.”

The cynical amongst you could see his reluctance to commit to Lille as a way to extract more money from his current employers by threatening a move elsewhere.

Whatever the reasons, if this uncertainty over his future remains come January or if it continues into next summer, then many Premier League clubs could be sniffing around him, least of all the two north London teams.

Discussions over his deal started in the summer but were supposedly put on hold once the season started.

Despite this delay Sow has not ruled out signing an extension to his current contract, telling French newspaper L’Equipe:

“I am not holding out for anything. I am playing at the moment and we will see what happens.

“I feel happy at Lille and I don’t think about a new contract all the time. It’s only October. I don’t know if I will stay or go. What I do know is that I am a Lille player and I am happy here.”
