Newcastle returned to training this week and there were a couple of players still in Alan Pardew’s squad who I thought might have been long gone. One of those is Jose Enrique, and although the Spanish defender’s future on Tyneside is far from certain, he is still a Newcastle player, for now at least.
However, Enrique cast a lonely figure (below) as he had the ice bath all to himself, and none of his current Newcastle teammates were anywhere to be seen. I wonder what the Bull’s thinking to himself, hopefully it’s ‘I need to get my agent to agree a new contract!’
Here is Jose Enrique cooling down after a tough early pre-season training session. Has the Spaniard been cut adrift? I hope not, but the longer he doesn’t sign a contract the less likely it seems that he’ll be a Newcastle player past the immediate future.
