David MarshallWhen a team is struggling in 18th place in the Premier League table and has conceded 61 goals to date, you wouldn’t have thought there would be many positives when it comes to the defensive side of things, but Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall is attracting plenty of suitors, including Newcastle United.

The name David Marshall will be familiar to many, with the 29-year-old goalkeeper proving to be a popular choice in fantasy football games this season, as it seems that Marshall either keeps a clean sheet or bags loads of save points, given the porosity of the Cardiff defence.

The Scotland international looks like a player who is more than capable of playing regularly in the top flight of English football and after spells with Celtic and Norwich City, has spent have a decade in South Wales.

Despite recently signing a new contract, Marshall could well move on if Cardiff were to be relegated and the new deal would just ensure that the Bluebirds would receive a decent amount of cash for their prized asset.

Ever the professional, Marshall had this to tell Wales Online about his future: “I am desperate right now to try to help keep this club in the Premier League. At this moment in time my personal career does not really come into it.”

Marshall continued: “I am going to be judged over these last games now. That’s me, all the other players and the club as a whole.”

If Cardiff do go down, keep an eye on where Marshall ends up as it might just be closer to home than you think for the goalkeeper who is coming into his prime…
