Serge AurierWith the exit of Mathieu Debuchy this summer looking more and more likely, a number of replacements at right back are being lined up by Newcastle United and the Magpies have joined Arsenal and Aston Villa in showing an interest in Serge Aurier according to The Sun.

Aurier currently plies his trade in Ligue 1 with Toulouse and we know that French football is an area that Newcastle are more than familiar with.

An Ivory Coast international, Cheik Tiote is sure to have some personal insight into the 21-year-old who made the move south from Lens in 2012.

Just 5ft 9in tall, Aurier is valued as much as £6 million and is an option that Arsenal are looking at as a potential replacement for Bacary Sagna, whose time in north London appears to be coming to an end.

Aurier himself is keen on making the next big step in his career and has recently said: “Moving abroad? I don’t think it is too early. It is about trust, and reaching a new step, I am not scared to go higher.”

Serge continued: “Another French club? I respect France but I would feel like betraying TFC if I would stay in Ligue 1,” and while Newcastle have a lot of French players, they don’t play in Ligue 1, yet!

If Debuchy does leave, Serge Aurier is one potential replacement.
