According to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle United are desperate to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Southampton wonderkid Tyler Dibling.

Newcastle have had a quiet January transfer window, but has all but confirmed the departure of right winger Miguel Almiron as he is set to return to the MLS with Atlanta United.

It has been reported that the club will bank around £9m for the sale of the Paraguayan international this month, as he became surplus to requirements in the forward line and has had his game time significantly reduced this season.

This sale will put Newcastle in a much more comfortable position when adhering to Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in their efforts to improve the squad, however, whether they will put that boost into action over the final days of the transfer window remains to be seen.

Jacob Murphy is the only ‘out-and-out’ right winger on the books at present, with Joelinton capable of putting in a shift in the wider forward role, while Anthony Gordon also has the experience and quality to perform there.

However, this is not a long-term solution for the Magpies, and finding a right-winger to complete the future of the attacking threat would massively improve their efforts to become a powerhouse both domestically and on the European stage.

GIVEMESPORT has reported this week that Newcastle are desperate to beat Premier League peers Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Southampton star Tyler Dibling, a talented youngster who has been stealing the spotlight at St Mary’s this season.

The publication claims that sporting director Paul Mitchell is keeping an eye on several targets ahead of the February 3rd deadline and Newcastle are hoping that Dibling will take his time with his choice of a move ahead of the summer.

They further note that Eddie Howe is keen for the 18-year-old to make the move to St James’ Park, and is confident that he can get the best out of him after becoming one of his biggest admirers over the last few months.

Will Newcastle sign Tyler Dibling?

There is no doubt that Dibling is one of the most exciting young talents in the Premier League this season and given his profile he would be the perfect signing for Newcastle this summer.

Indeed, in an ideal world the Magpies would be able to secure his signature this month, but with the deadline rapidly approaching and Southampton in a precarious position a the bottom of the table, it is highly unlikely to materialise.

Beating Spurs to the signing of Dibling – hailed a “good little talent” by Robbie Mustoe – shouldn’t be too difficult for Newcastle if they can stump up the reported £55m price tag that Saints have slapped on him.

The North East giants are in a position to qualify for European football and Champions League is still in sight, matching fourth-place Manchester City for points in the Premier League table currently.

Spurs, however, are massively struggling for results and looking unlikely to qualify for European football, as it stands, with just 24 points tallied up in the top-flight so far this season, so if the remaining fixtures go in Newcastle’s favour it would be a much more attractive project for Dibling.

Not only that, the Saints wonderkid is guaranteed first-team football on Tyneside with only Murphy standing in his way to join the front three of Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, whereas there is stronger competition at Spurs with Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski battling it out on the right flank.

With that being said, it would be a no-brainer for Newcastle to invest heavily in Dibling should the opportunity arise in the summer to do so, as he could be the answer to the long-term future of their forward line.
