According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United have concrete interest in making a move for West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen to bolster their attacking threat.
The Magpies are expected to do some serious business in the January transfer window, after failing to secure quality reinforcements during the summer and struggling to meet their high standards this season so far.
Newcastle are currently 11th in the Premier League table after a mixed bag of performances over their first ten fixtures, and their attacking threat has become the priority target area to improve in the new year.
Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have become popular features in the Tynesiders’ first team, but there is a missing piece of puzzle required to match their quality on the right wing.
While Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy have been loyal servants to the Geordies over the last few years, it is felt that to take the club to the next level there would need to be significant improvements to the attacking threat – especially on the right flank.
Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo has already been sounded out as the priority target to improve the position, however, a recent report has dropped another Premier League star that is attracting the interest of the Geordies in their ambitious efforts for European football qualification.
TEAMtalk have claimed that their sources have revealed that Newcastle have concrete interest in snapping up the services of West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen and would be happy to wait until the summer to secure his signature.
The talented 27-year-old is arguably the most important asset to the Hammers, and with that in mind, the publication has noted that it would take an astronomical offer for the club to part ways with their star player.
Newcastle are said to be monitoring the England international’s situation at the club due to their struggles this season and hoping that a more ambitious project on Tyneside would lure Bowen, despite his contract in the capital running until 2030.
Will Jarrod Bowen join Newcastle?
There is no doubt that Bowen would significantly improve the attacking threat at St James’ Park, with his huge consistency in front of goal and ability to change the trajectory of games by himself, it would be a no brainer if an opportunity arose to sign him.
Over ten Premier League appearances, the Irons skipper – dubbed a “world beater” by teammate Konstantinos Mavropanos – has scored three goals, registered two assists and created four big chances, as well as averaging 2.3 key passes, 2.1 shots on goal and 4.7 ball recoveries per game so far this season.
Although it would be a dream acquisition to improve the right winger role in the North East, Newcastle must do everything they can to avoid to find themselves embroiled in another saga similar to the one endured with Crystal Palace over their centre back Marc Guehi in the summer.
It seems inconceivable that West Ham would be willing to not only part ways with their best player, but their captain halfway through an already troubling campaign for the East London club and it is unlikely any offer Newcastle could make would be seen worthy to accept.
As a result, the Carabao Cup quarter finalists must keep their options up and resist falling back into the trap of putting all of their eggs into one basket, instead focusing on a range of targets with the right profile to fill the key role in their forward line.
