Newcastle host West Ham on Saturday as attentions quickly turn back towards the Premier League.

Quite how Eddie Howe’s team come down from the emotional high of reaching the Carabao Cup final will be interesting to see. While Howe was quick to stress no one was getting too carried away with themselves following the win over Southampton, it’s going to be difficult to follow such a famous night up so quickly.

Still, perhaps this team deserves more credit. They have proven relentless all year and, frankly, little about what West Ham have done this season would suggest there’s much to fear on Saturday. Newcastle are so strong at home, while David Moyes’ side have won only once on the round all season.

With Tottenham, currently three points behind Newcastle, not in action until Sunday (against Manchester City no less), Saturday’s game seems a great chance to widen the gap.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Date, kick-off time and venue

The Premier League game is scheduled for a 5.30pm GMT kick-off time on Saturday February 4, 2023.

St James’ Park will host.

Where to watch Newcastle United vs West Ham

TV channel: The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Ultra HDR.

Live stream: Sky Go subscribers will be able to watch it on a live stream via mobile devices, laptops, tablets, games consoles and more.

Newcastle vs West Ham team news

Bruno Guimaraes’ red card sees him suspended for the game, denying him a reunion with close friend Lucas Paqueta. With the Brazil international ruled out, Joelinton looks likely to drop into midfield alongside Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff, with Allan Saint-Maximin operating on the left.

January signings Anthony Gordon and Harrison Ashby are in line to make their debuts, while Alexander Isak could be forced to sit out after coming off in midweek with a head injury.

For the visitors, Danny Ings is injured and Kurt Zouma is currently thought to be a doubt. However, Moyes was able to rest the likes of Declan Rice, Paqueta, Lukasz Fabianski and Vladimir Coufal during Monday’s FA Cup win over Derby, so all are expected back.

Newcastle vs West Ham prediction

While football rarely works as simply as this, it’s difficult to look past the fact the game pits the team with the best home record in the Premier League against a side with one of the worst.

Newcastle to win 2-0.
