Anthony Gordon has sent a message to his doubters after completing a big money move to Newcastle.

What’s the latest Newcastle United news?

On Sunday, the 21-year-old completed a move thought to be worth in the region of £45m to St James’ Park.

The forward is believed to have cost an initial £40m, with a further £5m available to Everton in the form of add-ons. Gordon becomes the club’s second signing of the month behind Australian youngster Garang Koul, who has since joined Heart of Midlothian on loan for the rest of the season.

Newcastle are also reportedly set to sign West Ham defender Harrison Ashby, who Nothing but Newcastle first revealed to be a January target in December.

With only seven senior goals to his name, Newcastle paying so much for Gordon – who had barely set the world alight at Goodison Park this season – has certainly led to debate online.

Indeed, there is a school of thought suggesting the club have overpaid, although only time will tell whether or not that is the case.

Still, the player insists people simply haven’t seen what he’s capable of yet and believes he can excel under Eddie Howe on Tyneside.

What has Gordon said about his transfer to Newcastle?

Speaking after wrapping up his move, Gordon told NUFCTV : “I feel like it’s a really big step. People haven’t seen what I’m capable of yet. I think under the gaffer, and the way the club’s going, I can really excel here.”

When could Anthony Gordon make his Newcastle debut?

Cup-tied for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg meeting with Southampton, Gordon is in line to make his debut for the club when West Ham visit St James’ Park on Saturday.
