Napoli director Cristiano Giuntoli has denied the club could look to sell Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in January.

What’s the latest Newcastle United transfer news?

The Georgian has taken Europe by storm this season, scoring eight goals and registering 10 assists since joining the club from Dinamo Batumi.

Such has been the level of his form, the 21-year-old has even drawn comparison to the great Diego Maradona, who famously led Napoli to the Serie A title in both 1987 and 1990.

According to The Times, Newcastle are keen on a move for Kvaratskhelia, who is rated at around £50m. Indeed, the club are said to have scouted him repeatedly and are prepared to make the player a priority over the next two transfer windows.

What has been said about Kvaratskhelia’s future?

Speaking to Sport Express (via Fabrizio Romano), Giuntoli said: “No, there’s no chance we will let him go.

“It doesn’t depend on the fee or on the proposal; he will just stay with us.”

How likely is it that Newcastle sign Kvaratskhelia?

Given the level of interest in the player, Newcastle landing him would be some statement.

Clearly, January looks impossible. Napoli are going for a famous first League title since the days of Maradona and could even make an impact in the Champions League, so it would seem almost impossible to imagine they would allow such a key player to go.

Going forward, the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have all been linked. If Newcastle are going to offer any serious competition in such a battle, they will surely almost certainly need to qualify for the Champions League this season.
